Violence

Sent off for the third time in my "career". The second time is documented here. First time ever for violence though, or actually implied violence.

We're 2-0 up towards the end of game. I tackle one of their guys. Or actually I didn't. I realized quite late that I couldn't get to the ball so I pulled out of the tackle. However, their player wasn't keen on that so the next time I had the ball he decided that it would be a good idea to run through me at full pelt, elbow first. Kind of like Ben Thatcher on Pedro Mendes, but without the run-up so not quite as hard. Same lack of intent to get the ball though. Anyway, so as I get up and instinctively I go to hit him (he had fallen to the ground next to me). Bit of shock really because I'm not usually like that. At the last minute I think better of it though and hit the ground instead.

Not good enough though. He gets a yellow for the 'tackle', I get a red for 'throwing a punch'. Interestingly, I talked to the referee afterwards and he said I should have actually hit him as he'd done that before on another of our players in the first half.

The Recruiters Are Here, Fetch The Ammunition!

Nah, only kidding. There's no need to use violence. Although I'll come back to that later.

The first employee info session for marketing research was last week. A very popular CPG from Chicago which also happens to be the name of a baseball stadium in the city. It looks like they are after double the number of interns this year than they did last year, which is a good thing. They are also after another full-time employee on top of the intern whom they gave an offer to.

Went out to dinner on Thursday with a couple of people from a big name consulting Firm who are also looking at Nielsen Center Students. From my understanding before they were only looking for those from the Pacific Rim, but now they are looking for people to work in the US as well. Definitely good news.

We have two information sessions this week. Both from food companies. One of whom has expanded its recruiting to include international students which is great news. For them and for us (although I suppose I could do without the competition!)

Talking of competition. I was told several times last year that competition for internships was higher than for full-time positions. Now I can see that in action on the interview sign up sheet. For the internship interviews on Wednesday 10 of 11 students have signed up, but for the full-time positions there are only 5 of 12 second-years. Hmmmm.

Forty-Five Minutes

You have forty-five minutes to help me make a decision. A very serious decision. A decision that may have far reaching consequences.

Should I play Terrell Owens in my fantasy football team today?

The other options are Santana Moss, Michael Jenkins, Troy Williamson, and Keyshawn Johnson.
