Stunning

I've loved Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy since the moment I was given them as a Christmas Present several years ago, and it's always worrying when a book (or books) you feel attached to are to be transferred to film or TV.
I'm a little less worried now though.

I just saw photos from the set of the movie currently being made for release in December and it looks gorgeous. I was already impressed by the casting, including Nicole Kidman, Sam Elliott, Daniel Craig, and Eva Green, but it looks like I'm also going to be extremely impressed by the art direction, costume design, and production design.

Now hopefully the direction and script will live up to expectations...

Dilemma

I drastically need a haircut, but it's fluctuating between -5 C and -15 C here and the hair provides a very useful layer of insulation.

A Month!

A month between posts. That sucks.

Self-Esteem

Juliette is playing games with me on her abacus. She's currently in teaching mode, which means she tells me how great I'm doing after each game. I am apparently fantastic at both addition AND subtraction, which is great for my math self-esteem after last semester's Experimental Design class and Finance in the first year.
